Welcome to Auto Body Information Universe

Well who do we have here? An automobile enthusiast looking for fill-in-the-blank information about doing auto body, painting or general automotive restoration information? I’ve got good news for you: you’re at the right website. We’ve got more help in more areas of these topics than anywhere else on the web. Too much help, maybe. Whatever, you’ll have to take a step back before you dive in. Take a deep breath. Ready?

Search the Whole Site

If you’re new or need help, you’re on the right page. First, I assume you’re here to find an answer to a specific question. Your first action should be to search this site:

Search the Forums

Search the forums

Search the forums

When we say “forums”, we really mean the half-dozen or so sub-forums that make up the whole experience. The sub-forums are, for example, Body & Paint, Tools & Supplies, Member Projects, and so on. To get the most out of the Forums search, 1. register, 2. log in, then 3. go to the advanced search facility (upper right of each forum screen).

Once you get to the advanced search screen, one of the more useful features is to search within the first post of all topics. That way, even if someone didn't use a very descriptive title for their topic, you'll have a good chance of finding what you are looking for. Type your search in the box and away you go.

Auto Body Forums

Another great way to find your answer is to register, then read Rules and Etiquette, and then post a topic in one of the Auto Body Forums. A bonus of registering for the Forums is that you are able to “Subscribe Topic”, which means when somebody posts to that topic, you’ll get an email alerting you to that fact. Pretty useful.

How to Use The Forum

Account Activation: you must activate your account via EMAIL after registering. If you don’t see the activation email within two minutes, check your junk mail filter. In that email you MUST click the activation link. It’s clearly labeled.

Articles and DVDs

You probably noticed on the main page of the site there are articles about auto body and paint work. Many of these articles were written by friend of the site, Brian Martin -- a well known expert in his field. We thank Brian for sharing his wisdom on a variety of topics. My hope is that other members will be similarly encouraged to "give back" to the upcoming generation of hobbyists and professionals alike, by participating in our forums and contributing articles to the site. If you have an idea for an article please contact me so we can discuss.

Our Educational DVD offerings come to us from world-renowned automotive restoration specialist Kevin Tetz. This website is of course a virtual encyclopedia (remember those things?) of auto body and paint information -- but there is no quicker way to get a fundamental set of knowledge than by ordering and viewing Kevin's DVDs. I know guys who have never picked up a spray gun and have tackled a complete over-all color change paint job on their car after watching Kevin's DVDs. Besides being one of the nicest people I've encountered in this field, Kevin really knows his stuff.
