A friend approached me to do his car before a car show called Southern Worthersee. I agreed and we started on it shortly after. Mostly working on it late nights after work and stuff. It took about 4 weeks for me to do it. Needless to say, we got it done, but barely.
The car was rough. It had faded clear that was chipping away, beat up fender arches, horrible dent on the roof, some rust and some minor door dings.
There's a before shot of it.
Staying factory color
He got a new OEM trunk lid, so I sprayed the under side of that before we swapped it onto the car.
Onto the rest of the car.
I ended up shaving the rear flex lines.
And here you can see the faded clear coat.
Wetsanding and feathering it out
Quick spot prime in the driveway! lol
And that's all I can update this morning, I'll update more tonight after work.
Show off your work! Anything from final results to full start-to-finish project journals.
Looks great man can't wait for the update!
Then we block the entire car with 400grit wet and remove old glue residue and various other small tedious tasks.
What it looked like for a few days while we had to daily drive it still.
A bottom view of the damage on the roof where it looks like someone backed into a garage door or something and caught the antenna at some point.
Some brand new door handles
More work on the roof
Hammer and dolly time to fix the dent.
Shaving the antenna hole
Goofy pic of me.
Then I proceeded to fix the wavy quarters
Finished all the bodywork on the roof
And some various door dings/dents
And prime again!
Quarters blocked and ready
Some random pics
New used fenders primed
More random pics
The night before it went into the booth. Haha
Next up, Paint!
In the booth
Sealer and asscrack!
Putting it back together
I drive it back to my house and make a pitstop on the way there.
The next morning!
Some wetsanding and buffing
Well we didn't get it 100% done for the show, but it went up there painted. The only parts we got to wetsand before the show were the hood, roof, and trunk. Car got alot of attention. I'm pretty happy with it and so it the owner.
Here's the final product.
What do you guys think?
Amazing dude...wish I could could work along on a project like this and learn all the tricks! Was that a friends booth you sprayed in? I remember with your C you shot it in your garage?
Hey I just shot the bay in the garage. The booth belongs to a newly acquired friend. I had a buddy that new the owner of that shop and I asked them if I could rent it, they were hesitant at first, but allowed me to shoot the car there. After I was done they said I was welcome back to use it any time. The corrado exterior wise still isn't sprayed. I plan on getting it done for a show in sept. It's called H2oi or H20 international. It's in ocean city, maryland. You should go!
Yeah man I've heard of it. It's about 10 hours away lol!
13+ hours for me. It's such a fun event though.
What , primer, sealer, base coat, and clear coat brand did u use? Great job! Also what paint gun side u use with what needle size for each layer?
Primer/sealer/base was all Nason. Clear was Zolatone. Gun used for base was sharpe finex 3000, and for clear, I used a Iwata lph400.
1.4 tips on both.
