I have the cheap cart and the welder has to sit a little crooked on the cart for the gas line out the back of the welder to clear the gas bottle. Get the better cart if you can swing it.

Well I ended up buying everything for $450.

Hey! Who stole my MIG welder and cart? :)

I would say a LOT of time and a huge headache. Anytime you can get better original parts than you have you're further ahead, assuming you can get them for a reasonable cost.

Most things can be fixed with patch panels but if they're too far gone replacing the entire panel would make more sense if you can get it.
That's the direction I was leaning towards. I will find a set of doors in good condition and go from there.

Thank you for the information. I am going to just trash the doors and get new ones. You are correct with the pictures. I will try to post better quality once I get a camera. They were taken with a crappy phone.

I thought the quality of the picture was fine its just the portions of the car you chose to take a picture of was of the difficult part to ascertain what they were of.

The quarter panel and trunk floor look the worst in that one picture please post more pictures no need for another camera just need to see what you really got going on there.
If I am correct your gonna need Original full quarters to repair.

It looks like in that one picture you got a lot more than ordinary Rust and wheel well problems.
See my thread in welding section of forum "70 firebird major rust repair" there I am in middle of a trunk pan and quarter panel repairs in that thread and more! my car was destined for the scrap yard and truly belongs their! Till I found it and thought that I could fix it and learn more about rust repair and sheet metal repair along the way and I have!
I have learned a Lot in the process and would like to share that knowledge.
I haven't been out there for a while now due to project money problems for most part but I will be again soon.

Try to call that guy I posted about I am sure he has a lot of parts you can use and his prices were cheap I am sure he would make you a package deal you couldn't say no too.
He has a few cars as well advertised might be cheap enough to start over with something else you never know? Hind sight is always 20/20 and I am happy with my decisions so far but I'm not done yet either. :knockout:

I finally got around to shaving my drip rails and working on my welding skills. I learned a lot just from doing this part. The bottoms have been leveled out since taking these photos.

I cut the rail off in sections to help with warping.

All welded up

Now the finished product... Well semi-finished!

I was able to get some some replacement OEM doors.
Image

I made a few cuts in the window rear channel to get rid of that horrible rust.

Getting around to repairing the window channel. Going to flush mount the rear window by just raising it up. Making the metal fit is no fun at all.
