Finally got this booth done. (Had a large honey-do list of yard work.)

Built the end wall with intake fans and filters and then hung plastic sheet to divide the garage.

$15 a piece from a heating and cooling guy that pulled them from discarded furnaces. Together they push 2900 CFM and the booth is about 3600 CF.

I'm totally jealous, why don't you come & build mine for me now that your an expert :D

Nice job!

BTW, how's the flow with both those fans & can you just run them individually? It's basically the same squirrel cage setup I used but I've only got one unit.

I use the fans together to keep the air exchange rate at an acceptable flow.
I framed the walls so that one fan does the top row of filters and the other does the bottom row.

Hm... You're forcing air in rather than sucking it out. I'd think that could
be a problem as the incoming air is not filtered (looks like) and the air
movement itself could be an issue. BUT, if it is, you can place some
exhaust fans at the gate...

The air enters the booth through the filters on the wall and then proceeds out the overhead door. The airflow is controlled by how far open the overhead door is. Seems to have good flow and based upon CFM ratings should change the air in the booth about every 2-3 minutes.
Either way it has to be better than just painting in the open garage like I was before.

I see!

That's gotta be one of nicest home booths around. Quite a few could
benefit from your build.

Are those 110 or 220 motors? Did you wire them in with a switch or just a plug?

This is very similar to the idea I had for my garage. I planned to use two squirrel cage blowers in my attic, and draw air in from the turbines on top of the roof with A/C ducting, and have them blow into some large A/C return panels with electrostatic filters in the cieling of my garage toward the front.

One thing I wondered about was, I know that the 3M Filtrete filters would probably kill your CFM but would really bring in the cleanest air. Fiberglass filters are only really good for catching the big stuff. How well would electrostatic filters really work at higher air flow rates?

Could you use some sort of air filter sticky spray on the backside of the filter to catch dust or will this become airborne and get on the vehicle surface and cause fisheyes?

Sorry for all the questions, Im a noob lol.
