Here's a new job. The car was painted only about a year ago. It's a "20 footer". Doesn't look too bad until you get close to it. Apparently the bodywork was done by one person, then someone else painted it.
The car is pretty straigt. I'm hoping there isn't gonna be much filler work. I'm going to sand everything pretty good then epoxy, filler, epoxy, 2k and then bc/cc. I told the owner that I wouldn't be responsible for the bodywork that was done under the existing paint. He said he understands and trusts the bodywork that was done.
Here it is after about 12 hours of sanding and a small patch welded in the bottom of one fender and one door. Don't think the previous bodyman really cared about replacing any rotten metal. Just filler up with mud!
And some ********** epoxy.
I have a bunch of smaller parts I'm hoping to sandblast tomorrow or Monday.

I had one of those when I was in high school. Candy apple red with black bucket seats and a 289 automatic.

Thanks, hopefully I can keep up the pace. I've got a '57 Fairlane waiting for me if I want to do it.

I've got just about evertything in 2k primer. Three coats of gray ********** then and over-reduced coat of yellow as a guide coat.

Looks like it's in pretty good shape over all and you are making really quick work of it. I have the same trunk in my Stang and it was all rot

Yeah, this was apparently rotten too. The trunk floor and the floor boards have been replaced.

Finished first round of block sanding with 180 grit.
Spot puttied then shot 2 more coats gray and then yellow guidecoat. Few smaller pieces epoxied. |

The second round of primer blocked out great with 320 grit. The guidecoat really helps. After blocking I wetsanded with 400 grit. Then sealed with reduced primer. I was planning on taking pictures after blocking with 320 grit but forgot.
Here's what I've got painted so far. The color is 2008 Mercury "cinnamon". Using PPG DBU with ********** Euro 2020 clear. So far, I'm liking this clear. I know most people say the universal is easier to spray but I think this is laying down better for me. Still trying to get my gun dialed in, I don't have a whole lot of peel in this so I think I'm making some progress in that area. Hard to get good pics of this color indoors. I'll take more later with the car outside. Here's the color with the flash being used. ..and without |

Looks fantastic. Great job laying that clear down.
