Well I finally got everything sanded and primed, NO MORE RED PRIMER! Finish 1 2K high build, 415.
Sprayed 100 ounces of primer, mixed, seemed like a lot, three coats on everything.
I am a bit concerned of the over-spray in certain areas. I did the inside of the cab, really small areas, then went to the roof. Tried to do the inside and exterior roof and supports first. Three coats waiting for it to tack. I did the cowl area with this first spray. Then I did the inside of the door jambs, rocker panels, the back of the cab. Three coats on all. I then went to the front clip and did three coats on the front finders and front valance.
I had over-spray on several areas. any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? I feel it will be the same with color, and I do not want do a major cut and buff, with SS urethane.
Thanks!

I finally pulled the trigger...
I got some good results, and some not so good. Hey I am a noob, I expected it! I was more worried about orange peal, and now realized I went too heavy where I have the sags, they are consistent, each piece that saged, the opposite piece also has a sag. I had them positioned the same. I did hinges and bolts, that are fine, sags on the fenders and a couple of fairings. I put two coats on and saw what was happening, so I stopped. I felt I had the gun dialed in, but with my poor technique, I sprayed too much on the vertical surfaces to try for the wet look. I will get better... WH WH

Pretty good man. Nothing wrong with cut and buffing SS. Just get 3 good coats on it and don't wait long to start.

The first time I sprayed this piece, it had runs on the sides. Second time, it has the top as I want it, orange peal on the front, and dry spray on the sides. I felt that I sprayed all equally. Any thoughts would be appreciated! WH

I feel I finally had a bit of consistent success today.
I cut and buffed several of the bed fairings. SS urethane. WH

It's you guys fault! (Meaning Auto Body 101.) I never intended to try for a finish like that, but no I had to listen to you all! I just wanted... I now can see the light, I believe I know how to proceed and finish. (I used those parts as test panels because of their size, and they have now become finished parts) Thanks all! WH

Hello all,
I have not quit or died, still banging away at the Jeep. This is the same corner of the hood through the polishing process. 1500 grit sanding 3000 grit sanding 5000 grit sanding rubbing compound Medium grit polish Final polish, ready for wax. I have learned that I cannot paint worth crap, but I have learned how to cut and buff. It took four sprays and sanding's to get the hood to where it should be. Working on cab and front clip, more to come eventually. WH
