I've managed to get a little done on each car, The Renault is getting close to assembly for the body shop, or a decision of taking to him unassembled.
I've sandblasted, straightened and painted all of the brakes and suspension, as well as rebuilt the transmission and painted it and the engine parts (still need a cylinder sleeve before assembling the engine)

The Mini sat for a long time with little progress in the body shop. I finally got him moving by asking where to take the Renault since I'd have it ready before he finished the first one.

I stripped, blasted and painted the rear sub-frame and parts,

The body shop cut out the rotten floor and the chopped up front sub-frame and then formed a new floor out of a Toyota minivan, plus a few panels out of the others parts of the minivan.

Not much updating for a while, although my sites are regularly updated with what I've got. The Renault has all the underbody rails of the "frame" replaced (along with door sills), but is sort of on hold while we finish the Mini, since I have all the paperwork in order to drive it when finished. The Renault will take more time to straighten the paperwork than the body.

Here are a few of the shots of the Renault

For the Mini, I bought a whole front clip, with roll up windows and 1300 cc engine. So we are grafting that onto the rear half of the pickup. Not an easy task, since the newer doors have different profiles all around, and the door sills are a different width.

So I tore down the new engine to rebuild it and paint it. The polyurethane acrylic paint went on nicely.

I also chromed the heat shield

and polished and painted the manifolds

and finished the upholstery

Also made some tail light bezels out of melted beer cans

Lots more detail on my sites.

Nice work. you remind me of me a lot. Using crap wheels to raise the car, holding the body off the ground with tires and jackstands. thats what its all about. You do good work, I dig it. You got some cool little hot rods over there, but I don't think you have the big cadillac boat that we go here. good luck, god bless/

Thanks
Nope, not many of the big ones around here. I know of a 61 Olds, and some later Chevy's, but most vehicles of the times were pickups or taxis, and with high (at the time) prices of gas, not many V8's.

You made bezels out of melted beer cans, how on earth did you do that?
