This is Jane. Bought her in June of '89, been working on her since then. Drove her for the first time in Oct. '09. This past Feb. I took her apart again, I did not like some of what I had done before. I hope to prime and paint her next year.
May, 2010 My $300 Quincy 60 gal. Compressor (Big Blue) I am now working on running the piping for Big Blue. Clay B.

Make sure and set up with 20+ feet of pipe running up and down wall in short area before going into a good water separator this will allow the air to cool so the water in the airlines can cool and condense so the water separator can catch all the water in the airline that the compressor makes. Use copper pipe or Black iron pipe copper is preferred as the Black pipe does rust and is dirty internally and requires another filter before pressure regulator for painting.
I use Black pipe myself. I have an elaborate water separator system prior to my first air outlet myself by building a good water separator system now you will save your self a lot of trouble later. The trick to any good water trap system is allowing the air comming out of the air compressor tank to fully cool so it gives up all its heat so the water will condense allowing it to be trapped in a water trap/Filter assy. That's why the 20+ feet of pipe running up and down wall 3-4 sections about 7-8 feet long before a water trap allows the air too cool in the pipe and it doesnt take up too much room. I also run a cheap airfilter with my water separator just out of my air cooler system before running the airline around the shop adding all my air taps around shop where ever I may need or want them. Most angle there main airline running around the shop so any water in the airline will run towards a end point were you can build in a water drain just a 90 degree down turn with a valve is fine. I also add air shut off valves air compressor Tank and before my Air drier/Filter system. If you get a Drier system you want to keep the system closed off at all times when Not in use so the Desiccant isn't exposed to water of any kind. you definitely wanna keep it closed off when you drain your compressor Tank! That Camaro is sharp I wish I had hung on to the ones I had years ago. What kind of work have you done to it so far after working on it for past 20 years? Cant say I like the Painted supercharger too much but it is diffrent! (I am no way putting your car down either! and I mean no disrespect!) I have a Big block I am holding onto just for a car like that actually a couple Big blocks I need two of those cars Dennis B.

Thanks for the input. I am currently collecting all my black pipe and fittings. I do plan on running a 25' water trap with drains. Thanks for the other suggestions. I've been lurking around a lot of forums reading up. As far as "jane" my camaro, i've re done the interior stock with the addition of gauges. The body work was done by two friends of mine who worked at body shops. All the suspension is new but stock. The motor is a 350 .030 over built for the super charger. I put it together my self. I painted the super charger because the polished one was too expensive. Folks either love it or hate it--LOL. It took so long because I am poor and cheap and there were long periods of not working on it. One of these days I would love to do a big block. Clay B.

The name Jane comes from her starting out as a plain jane camaro. No SS, RS or Z28. I'm Clay by the way--LOL. The color for her changes every day. I'm leaning toward a light gold--Ford color Tri-coat Gold. Thanks for the compliments. Clay B.

Nice. You got a nick name for everything I bet huh!
I want a $300 compressor like that.... where did you get 'big blue' ? "Many of us on here paint in our garages so "garage job" as a derogatory term isn't appropriate. The quality of the work is based on the person's ability not necessarily the facility he/she works in." - '68 Coronet R/T

You are right on the money I do nick name everything---LOL Picked up a Old Quincy 310 air compressor . 60 gal. it runs so quiet, it sounds like a sewing machine. The thing weighed a ton though. We had to take it all apart to load it in my van. This is the plate that all of the parts mount on across the top. It came out of a old service station turned convience store. $300 I could not go wrong. Now I have to clean it up and put it back together. Cleaned and painted each part, replaced wire and copper tubing. I also put rubber pads between any place I had metal to metal contact. Finished putting Big Blue back together and wired up. Runs like a top! Hockey Pucks under the feet. Still have to run the steel air lines$$$$ Big Blue running video. Clay B.

Been a while since I been on. Was having trouble with posts displaying (has prefrences set wrong)
Ran piping for compressor. Large quick dis. at end is where I snap in my dryer, a section of pipe drops down to my work bench with the dryer on it. This way it is only up when I am painting. 35' of pipe before dryer. Clay B.
