Hello everone, I thought I should post this up for you guys too see and so I can post questions here without creating a million threads but anyways this is my first car and lots have been done to it but its time to do the exterior of it. Heres some few pictures of it when I first took it home.

I took my car to school and continued removing the entire support and putting a new one on and making sure it all lined up then welded it.

So my questions are on the hood i should epoxy all metal parts? If so how much just a single coat? then 2k entire hood and block with 220 and guide coat then another coat of 2k then block with 400 right? (painting white, solid color dupont bc/cc btw) Most of the body is in good condition just have door dings and few dents nothing too major.

1-2 coats epoxy on the whole hood then high build.

You really think he needs to seal it with Epoxy?

I would just shoot it with DTM Hi build and go

I do Dennis just because of the bare metal showing. DTM High Build is ok without epoxy. He also might need to tap down that big wide bare metal spot in the front. Might block out but hard to tell IMO with the pics. If I had the epoxy I would use it ( I quit the DTM hybrid/epoxy primer some time ago). BTW I always have epoxy but just high build would most likely be ok too. Thanks for the question. I understand your reasoning.

Actually looks like a good part for epoxy followed with poly.

yea man I would go with the epoxy since u have bare metal.Looks like a nice car I repaired a silver 97 Prelude a few years ago and had to go through act of congress to find a useable right door anyway had to replace right quarter and car really turned out nice.Parts are scrace for those cars

Ok I understand why and all
I just didnt think there was enough bare metal to mess with epoxy I know My DTM would stick but that area is going to see lots of Rock chips so Ya Epoxy is a better deal.

Finally some progress. Thanks to this forum, people at the ********** forum and barry and you too chris. I finally got the shell painted and i'm super satisfied. Did have a few mistakes though, tape flew off and landed right on the fresh first coat of clear =( looked bad but after a second coat it almost disappeared. Will probably fix it later down the road since I don't think I can pull that repair off just yet.

**** garage booth and fans but it works pretty good. Made A BIG mistake of using brown/green masking paper and got lint and dirt on the entire car after my sealer (cheap masking paper, my mistake). Decided to wet sand with 600 lightly to remove all dirt (barry's advice) and worked great. Remasked with PLASTIC and then I shot another coat of sealer to be safe and went to bc/cc. Did get tiny bit of dirt but no lint but no where near the amount that I had with masking paper. I am super satisfied with everything and this universal clear looks amazing, a bit of peel(less than oem cars but I am satisfied 100%) and this is my first time ever shooting clear. I will however have to redo the roof since I couldn't reach the middle of the roof(I'm short lol) and got dry spray and stripping in the middle. So yeah, I still have to finish the rest of the car but I feel more confident now and thanks to all you guys. I also need to clean the residue on the trim from 3m's green tape. Anybody have ideas or know what will work?

This is where the tape flew and landed on. Its noticeable but not too bad. I will repair it in the future when I can figure out the steps to fix that. Theres 2 coats of clear so I'm nervous even thinking about it.

also got this over the weekend

Hopefully I can get this done soon. This is definetly alot of work lol I now see why it was expensive when I was getting quotes for a paint job.
