This project looks killer man! Excellent job on that fab work it really came out excellent. I'm right with you on trying to get involved with this online car scene deal, seems like there are few forums out there pertaining to this, seems like this site is one of the better ones. I'll be looking forward to the coming progress!

Here are some pics of the trans tear down and cleaned up.
I finished the 4L60E rebuild with upgrades such as corvette servo and added more clutches than stock. Here are the pics. Installing the components for the case. Rebuilt the pump Assembling the drum with new steel and frictions Assembly of the input drum with new steel and frictions Components ready to go in the case Drum and input drum installed. Pump installed. Bell Housing installed Valve body and all electronics installed Prep for primer and paint Painted and done I air tested everything along the way. Next step install the Torque Converter and bolt her up to the engine. |

Fantastic job there BAM!
I just returned the new front pump and torque converter I bought for the 700r4 in the 55 project. Turns out the increased the input shaft size somewhere in the mid 80s and the pump/converter they sold me was for the earlier models. The tranny supposedly was rebuilt before and it was clearly modified as they removed all the electronics. Also, noticed evidence of slight surface rust on the drum so it makes me wonder if they ever actually rebuilt it. Should have the new, new parts late tomorrow. 1968 Coronet R/T

Thanks man, Yeah that is the reason I started learning to do everything myself. There are way too many shady people out there.
Hey Doright, This is not a 700r4 its a 4L60e which is basically the PCM (computer) controlled version of the 700r4. The PCM (computer) for the engine also controls the transmission. Yes I will be using it, its already programmed and ready to go. I had to have it programmed to get that engine to run. |
