The ugly bumper installed. I really don't care for the looks of his thing. It's too tall and blocks the headlights some so I am sure it will cast a shadow. Maybe not if the spots are on too.
Installed the tie down kit.

looking good Jim I agree with you and don't care much for the bumper hoop and the seats.
I also don't care for Bed liner inside of truck. Dennis B.

I agree on the seats and bed liner.
This was supposed to be a low budget, make it look nice project, but he keeps adding to the list. I told him it needs way more work than he realizes and has too many modifications to be worth the money but . . . It certainly wasn't supposed to be a full blown restoration or I would have replaced the frame and body. 1968 Coronet R/T

I think you did a great job of saving the frame and the body.
Just my opinion but That's what a restoration is supposed to be about saving as much as possible reusing as much original as possible. All to often it becomes a replace every thing deal instead of fix and repair & reuse the original parts. and in the process loose the character of the original car or truck. Dennis B.

Installed the roll cage:
Took 2.5 hours for me to get that thing in the Jeep with minimal damage to the paint. Waiting for a new set of bucket seats to come that are supposed to be "direct fit" but we'll see. Working on the rear bumper and swing out spare tire mount now. 1968 Coronet R/T

Working on the modifying the old spare tire assembly and making it so it will swing out of the way.
The pivot is made by A-Z fabrications and has a 1 1/4" steel rod machined at one end for bearings and seal with the other end that is welded into the bumper. The DOM steel sleeve is also machined for bearing races and a dust cap. I am using the original bolt holes that were in the bumper for the old setup and had to enlarge the one side considerably to accommodate the 1 1/4" pivot pin. Set up for 3/4" of spacing between top of bumper and bottom of spare tire holder. Fabricated some support for the latch side so that when closed the pivot bearing will not have to bear the weight continuously. The sleeve will also guide the eye bolt to a threaded nut welded to the bottom of the bumper. Mounted the tire to see if and how the hi-lift jack could be made to fit. Problems with this location are: (1) if I go any higher with the jack it blocks the tail lights: (2) the floor plate of the jack limits the swing out travel and prevents the tailgate from being easily accessible: Going to have to find another place for this monstrosity of a jack. 1968 Coronet R/T

Got the bucket seats installed today.
They were supposed to be "direct fit" but the passenger seat frame didn't even sit on the mounting rails. You can see by the last picture how I got around that problem. Now its back to work on the hi-lift jack storage issue. 1968 Coronet R/T

After much back and forth I decided to follow someone's suggestion about removing the base plate on the jack.
I ended up having to relocate one of the mounting bolts for the jack and making some spacers from steel pipe to hold the jack in the right place. Installed the fold down steps: Waiting on the windshield which should be here tomorrow morning. 1968 Coronet R/T
