My 94 year old grandfather decided to get rid of some of his herd. We collected this 1979 Bradley gt (vw) kit car from him. He blew a head on it and it has sat in his garage for 22 years. He was hoping i would bolt on a new head and drive. But we decIded it was best to do a full restoration as tee floor boards were starting to rot also. We bought another pan that had new floor boards badly welded in to cut out and weld into our chassis. We pulled the body off to do some custom work to and repaint. We are also rebuilding the engine. Good thing as the other side of the engine was in sad shape and ready to go also.

I have worked as a high end cabinet finisher so i am accustomed to shooting a finish with a binks hvlp gun off of a pressure pot. Just need to learn the differences! I have worked with rattle cans and airbrushing as well with car models and received awards for my finish. But again i know this is a different beast to learn. More in the prep here. The less fun part of it. Hoping to learn the process and teach my son and have some fun. Thanks. Jody.

Always nice to see a father/son project :goodjob:

You should pick up on the painting quite easily with your background, worst part in a home setting tends to be dust and air flow. The paint is quite toxic (isocyanides) and without a good booth setup you get a lot more vapour hanging around then you want so ideally a fresh air system should be used.

Good luck
Rob
