Two years ago, I joined the site as I started doing the body work on this car. Thanks for the many useful tips you guys offered. Here's a couple of the latest pics now that I have the body back on the frame and am about ready to put the color on. It's going to be a light blue metallic similar to the color on the floorboards. It's actually a little further along now so I'll shoot another couple photos and add them on.

Sweet! I always liked the look of the early 60s corvettes but then I liked the 50s and late 60s too.
I take it your frame was in good condition?

Actually, the frame and body were in horrible condition. Some clown cut the frame and body in half under the seats (rear end damage maybe) and butted it all back together wrong. I had the take the body off and have the frame cut and jiggled back together the proper way. The best part of the car was that all this happened early in its life and the repair work was so bad, the car was not drivable. The result is there wasn't a speck of rust anywhere and most of the car components were still in amazing low mileage condition.

The frame is fantastic now, all powder coated and built back to new condition everywhere. It's taken me nearly 8 years to undo all the damage that car had. The body is sporting quite a few new panels as well but it looks almost as nice inside and underneath as it does outside.

I'll add some more pics of the stages it went through.

I wondered about the frame because that was the weak spot on these older corvettes. People get to looking at the cracks in the glass/paint and forget to look at the frame.
Pictures are greatly appreciated.

A few of the more recent pics of the engine compartment and underside getting painted up. I'll have to dig up a couple of the oldest ones to show just how far I have brought this basket case.

This pic is for 68 Coronet RT. I'm a huge Mopar fan and I figured you'd appreciate this one. It's my 70 Challenger RT which is patiently waiting for me to finish up the Vette so it can have its turn.

Wow, that looks to be in great shape.
I am seriously thinking of buying one of the SRT8 Challengers. Can't afford new but maybe 2012 or thereabouts if I can find one with low miles and in good shape.
Of course I'll put a Hellcat on my birthday/Christmas list.
