Removed the convertible top frame and boot assembly:
Washed everything inside and out and then started stripping the old paint off the metal portions of the car with 80 grit on the DA: Pulled the front bumper to remove seal along hood area and hopefully some heat will straighten out these dented areas some. Looks like it has been that way for a long time. The Rear Finish Panel was so brittle and broken I ordered a new one: Hope to get some epoxy on this car by Saturday but we'll see. 1968 Coronet R/T

Put some heat to the front bumper and got most of the dented areas to come out.
Reinstalled it without top metal bracing to get epoxy primer on and do some filler work. Car did have some previous repair work done on the driver's door and fender. I put a shim under the top fender bolt to help align it better with the door and hood. Now to pull some dents and do a little filler work. 1968 Coronet R/T

After the stud puller on the left quarter, a few taps on some high spots, and lots of sanding I washed it again and shot 2+ good coats of Tamco DTM 2k primer.
I will let this set for at least a day. Then guide coat and more sanding.  1968 Coronet R/T

That looks real good, are you going to shoot the bc/cc as complete car minus a few bits? I must have missed it but what color are you going with?

Going with original color - Mariner Blue.

What are you doing with the door jambs, are they good enough as is or are you going to spray them with the doors open? I have a couple projects I want to keep simple so I'm curious how good you can get that part of the car without all the fun that goes with pulling the doors off. Miata is coming along very nicely

I am only painting the jambs up to a body line near the A-pillars. The only reason I am painting them at all is due to some paint chipping in couple of areas.

Thanks Chris, I am slow but keep plugging along.
Block sanded the 2k with 80 grit and fixed a few dings and dents along the way: You can see I sanded until the epoxy primer started showing before a few areas were flat. The Tamco DTM 2k actually works quite well as a guide coat when block sanding. The sanded areas show up much lighter in color. I then mixed up the rest of the Tamco DTM with some reducer added and sprayed another coat: Now for more sanding. Eventually I should get to the easy part - painting it. 1968 Coronet R/T

I block sanded everything again with 220 grit.
Shot two more coats of 2k primer, guide coat and wet sanded with 600 grit. Spent a full day wet sanding and still I see things I don't like.  Anyway, sprayed 3 coats of Pro Spray Mariner Blue this morning. Will shoot the clear after lunch. I need to rework my paint booth to get some better flow and lighting. Problem is my wife want's a bigger house.
