Got this car in last weekend for a customer, got it in primer today, didn't need alot of bodywork. I'm going to let the primer sit 'till Monday before I do any blocking. Car is extremely nice and straight, going straight to 320. Going to be a big, bad, Orange Brute with it's 455 engine

Nothing, I was trying to take a pic of how smooth the primer laid out. I think the camera lens must have something on it. Doesn't show up well regardless. I really like the 2K DTM from Tamco. What I found works best for me with a Siphon gun and 1.8 tip, was to mix 4:1:1 and then add 1 more part of reducer. Nice stuff Tamco, I'm sold!

Today I am working on the underside of the hood and decklid.

Decklid underside done and fender jambed in (one was done when I got the car and one wasn't)... Got the underside of the hood done in satin black and I am basing the top right now... All the Tamco products are working just as they should...Very Nice!

Got the hood final sanded, based and cleared. Had some places on my first coat of base that reacted and had to be sanded and fixed. It was my own fault, I had a few sand through spots in my primer and I rolled the dice, about 70% of them did fine, but I had about 8 spots to fix. Not a big deal, but very time consuming to sand and fog light coats on the spots before 2nd full coat. Lesson definitely learned on that one. 3 coats of base and 2 full coats 2021 clear on the hood. I figured out today I am not a fan of HS clears, I like medium solids much better. I'll be colorsanding and buffing the hood it looks like, has some dirt nibs in it anyway. Done for today

Looks great so far, I am impressed!

I hear you on the high solids, especially in open air like a home garage setup. I have not tried their 2021 yet but as you know I really like the HC-2100. It is a medium solids, but on the higher end of the 'medium' range.

Can't wait to see the car done, I love that color.

Thanks chris. Tired... 46 hours on this beast this week, and I'll be on it again tomorrow buffing the hood. I really do love restoration work though, the cars make the work fun. I don't think I'd be happy fixing civics all week. I know whoever gets this car will love on it and take care of it because it's their dream car... hope thats the case anyway.

I painted the hood off the car because my garage is too short to paint both ends at one time. I did the same deal on a Trans Am I did. This Orange has a light metallic too it, hopefully everything will match when it's back together, it's a gamble. I'm not touching a single knob on my base gun 'till the body is done so I might get lucky

Nice work on that hood. Looking forward to seeing this one done. I love those early '70s 442, they really got the styling right in those years.
