Hey, I came across this really good deal on a fastback. It has 83000 miles on it and is all orginal. The car mostly sat from 1975 to 2006. The guy I bought off said he only took it to a car show couple miles from his place every year. I am charging my higher quality camera and ill get bitter pictures off the car and see what I can do to some areas if any. I would like to clean the car up the best I can and leave it as original the best I can.
Some things wrong I would like to deal with right away.
- rear bumper hit, I would like to get the bumper some what back in its orginal position.
-some minor surface rust in some areas, want to know if I'm worrying to much obout these areas of if I should deal with them right away. or if there is any way to slow down the corrorsion
-some sort of lines on the passanger side that looks like liquid had ran down the car and stained it. I thought that this was caused by me. The car was covered in dust when I picked it up (250m away from my home) I drove it back but wanted the windows cleaner, I took it to a small town car wash, and just rinsed it off with water. When I got home I noticed the lines and thougth maby something was wrong with the water from the car wash I imedatly washed the car by hand with soap and water but the lines would not come out. Looking in the intial pictures I took it looks like they were there when I picked it up.
390 decal is missing want to replace it.
Things worng with the car I'm not worried about
-1/4 panel dented, I guess a tire fell off the car at one point which may be why the bumper is shoved up.
- looks like something fell on the passanger side at some point and dented up the roof.
some pics of my first day owning It.

Looks like it's in very nice condition, I always liked those big fastbacks.

Now I see what you mean about the streaks, hard to believe someone would spray on a rust converter and then not give a rip about it running all over the place. You could try a bit of rubbing compound on a small test spot and see what happens. No point going hog wild with a buffer if it isn't going to work. Pretty good chance it's actually stained the paint so you're stuck with it but you might get lucky.
I really don't know how well those rust converters work, especially on sheet metal. Maybe somebody else can chime in on that. I would be inclined to grind/sand the rusty bits and get some epoxy primer on it sooner than later. I can't tell how the frame is but you might be better off to take it to an alignment shop to see what they can do, or at least suggest before you take a stab at it and risk making things worse. Good luck with it Rob

I would take it to a Bumper specialist to get it straitened out and re-chromed as far as frame goes there adjustment there may be better off leaving it alone with a straitened bumper.
As far as rust goes wire wheel it and put some Acid etch primmer on it looks like rear quarters are gonna need same treatment sooner or latter. Dennis B.
