Takes so long to do anything and it doesn't seam like I am making any progress.
Very frustrated with quarter panel patches dont like them at all keep looking at the new skins they look so pretty and my patches look like turds trunk floor looks good trunk drop offs look ok Tail panel is well a Turd and I keep polishing it its still a Turd like quarters.............

Wish I had more money to buy new quarters

Yeah if you can't get good original sheet metal or original tooling stuff it's **** near impossible to get things to look right. Everything I'm working on now is original stuff and even then it's brutal to fit. Problem is people can't frickin drive so I'm dealing with stuff that's been hit in the past :knockout: :knockout:

I can deal with Dents well enough Metal bumping has gotten easier for me. Its the welding and cheap patch panels that are giving me fits. actually When my welder was messing up and then I switched to gas was the problem now I can do both but not well not pretty I am getting better but.

I picked up those long C clamp Vise grips at Harbor fright last night as planned

I'm still out here, sort of. We've been spending a lot more time up at the cabin and we don't have internet there yet so pretty much off the grid unless we WiFi at a pub

Still puttering on the Stang when we're here, now trying to fit the front valance and stone guard, both repops so it's a battle, now trying to salvage the stock stone guard as the repop fits like crap, surprise

Still planning on moving in about a year so tons of work to do at both places before that can happen :splat:

Ok well I picked up a few new toys recently from HF a shrinker stretcher set with the fancy stand to foot operate the things and a new open Throat shear and an elcheapo brake.
Mini shrinking disk i been wanting and a Bunch of steel.
Been working on Bird Have tail panel on with Big Vice grips To make sure Trunk is all square need to get Trunk lid panel on next in morning then Im gonna start welding it all up.
There are some details Though that need special attention before welding can happen.

So what have you guys been up too?

I have a shrinker and stretcher but not the fancy foot pedal ones. I haven't had much success with them, I might be using too thick gauge material?

When in town I've been picking away at the front sheet metal on the stang, getting closer to having it fit right, finally. Otherwise working up at the cabin cutting and splitting firewood and getting the place ready for the move.

I worked up a window channel the other night with mine in about 20 min just farting around Its not finished or anything but real close, I was kinda happy with it.
I wouldn't go forcing it real hard as there a cheap HF set and I know forcing it hard will dull the teeth fast so I am going slow and light with lots of soft presses. I am using 24-22 gauge metal I bought off E bay. My Metal from Stock car steel hasn't shipped yet not to happy about that.
I finally got a smaller shrinking disk a 4 inch, Wow its so small how did I ever do so much with that bigger one? this little one is so cool I'm gonna be able to get into the back side of every thing now!
I also gave up on the one area of that left quarter panel on the Pontiac and cut it all out and welded in new metal looks nice now. The problem Started when I had a Problem with the Tig and it took me forever to figure it out but I kept having Blow outs that I kept trying to just fill in with weld BIG mistake don't do that! just keeps getting worse! Also couldn't weld Aluminum at all with it thought for sure machine was bad.
Any way Found out that while I did have Gas flow at the Torch most of my gas was leaking out of the hose before it got to torch. The gas line had a fiber sheath around a rubber hose and I couldn't tell it was leaking any were even when blowing shop air through it BIG frustration after replacing it though My welding went from Crap to WOW! I can weld.

Been working out in shop almost every weekend now, I even started welding in That Trunk Pan from underside with the Mig this last weekend its in their solid now. I have to take all the Clecos out and start welding the Top side now. Then I can do the Trunk Drop offs and the Tail panel. Then I can do the window channels and the front Cowl panel then I can start painting! and putting it back together.
I also recently Picked up a set of .030 over Ross pistons for the Motor but I still need to get a set of Rods and a cam & get the heads done and ported shooting for an honest 500 hp.

Very slow progress indeed but at least it's something. I need to prime and paint some parts so I would like to roll the car outside, problem is it never stops raining :realmad: It was supposed to be a warm and dry winter, so far it's either cold or wet

Some pics would be nice Doug, the frame must be looking great!

I haven't tried working with such light gauge metal Dennis, that probably explains my problems with the shrinker/stretcher. I use 18 gauge for most everything.
