Tell me more about the fenders, is that rod you're welding to the edge? Is that for added strength or rigidity? You did a great job shaping it to the fender opening, that must have taken some time on a bender.

I'm trying to find a mystery right side inner tie rod, it's making me crazy. I think I'll have to put it on a bunch of forums to see if someone may have seen one like that before. My Stang had the Grenada front disc brake conversion done to it a very long time ago, 20 years or so I would guess. The Grenada spindles are different so you need to do something with the tie rods. All of mine are from the Stang except for the one inner. I thought it was from a Cougar but apperently it isn't, we've looked through all the parts books and nothing has come up, seems like they're all pretty straight or way too long. It's 8.25 inch long. It's the bottom right curved piece attached to the adjusting sleeve and the centerlink.

I think it's a great idea firming up the fenders with the rolled steel, looks really clean too :goodjob: :goodjob: Guess you'll be happy when the fenders are all done, you've put a ton of work into them.

Not sure if there's a Grenada forum but I have it on a Stang one and I'm going to put it on a Hot Rod one, that may be the best bet, those guys use parts from all over the map. For now I just used the old one, hopefully by the time it goes in for an alignment we'll have figured it out.

I pretty much have the front suspension in, just a couple bits left and then I can move onto getting the rear suspension in. Once it's on it's feet I'll drop the motor and trans in. Still need to clean up and paint the trans though. It'll be great having it as a roller again, been on jack stands forever :knockout: :knockout:

Front suspension all in except the shocks which are a bit too short with it being all unsprung, seems odd? Still need to add the brakes too.

Nice and shiney

Sorry Dennis, I didn't see your earlier post. Not the idler arm, the inner tie rod at the bottom right of the pic. I replaced everything else but that so hopefully by the time it goes in for an alignment we'll have figured out what it is and put in a new one. I don't want it holding me up any longer so I just cleaned up the old one and put it in for now. Here's another pic of it, the one on the right side. Meanwhile I'm still having fits with the rear brakes, new drums won't fit over the new shoes, actually one side sort of does but the adjuster and lever is so loose it will fall out. Going to get a different brand of shoes to see if that helps, there's more pad on the new shoes than the old ones had so maybe that's the problem. Stupid car is fighting me :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:

As far as brakes go, make sure you purchased the right adjuster's as Im sure you purchased new springs AND adjusters??? right?
I got wrong ones once or twice :realmad: same with the Shoes,

Parts people at Parts stores arnt what they were at one time.

That Tie rod Looks Bent to me plain and simple I dont think it should look like that. :pcorn:
If it where designed like that other side Tie rod would be similar I would think as the Steering box Pittman Arm would be in same plane as Idler arm and thats where the bend is.

It would be very strange to find a Bent Tie rod bent like that and NOT have any structural damage from a previous accident some time in the Cars life, You would have found evidence of something like that when it was stripped.

New springs but the old adjusters which were in perfect shape. The new drums don't fit over the old shoes either so it's just weird. I cleaned up the old drums and put them on for now, at least I can get the car on it's wheels and move on to some body work. To make new drums work you'd have to machine them to the max legal limit and with the Chinese quality they would likely warp

The stock tie rods on a stang are totally different from one side to the other. The stock one from the right side is similar to this one but longer. The Grenada swap needs a shorter one. I cleaned up the old one and put it on, we'll revisit this when the car is finished and goes in for an alignment. Can always rework something like cutting down and adding thread to a stock one perhaps. There was no evidence of any structural damage to the front end whatsoever and the swap was done while I owned the car so it's a stock tie rod from something.

and it's getting worse, I'm about ready to put a bullet to my head :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:

I got new rotors, pads, bearings, seals, etc., guess bloody what :splat: :splat: :splat:

Rotors don't fit over the spindles, pads don't fit the calipers, seals don't even fit the **** new rotors. I am sooooooo frustrated :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

Old pads on left, new on right, and one side of the old ones actually bolt on, as weird as that sounds

small bolts holding one side of the pads on

Rotors fit ok to the wheel dispite the extra meat on the center hub, but the backside has the same extra meat and doesn't fit through the shield plate

Well one problem got solved this morning :goodjob: The front end on this isn't a Granada, it's a 68 Cougar, not sure how that happened, wasn't the plan at the time  Anyway now we know, after a whole lot of searching. I think the parts guys are going to hide the second they see me walk through the door
