Hey at least I remembered my camera unlike some people I know around here

I'll put some more up tonight, I've seen a lot of the cars from before so lately I just take shots of the ones that are new and sometimes I can't even get those because of the crowds. By noon it was madness there. :knockout: :knockout:

Rob, so glad the Buick ran so well now it will be a fun car to cruse in luxury in. :goodjob: :allgood: Nice shots of the car show and the picture of the 37 it is good motivation. I too love that El Camino, I actually had one way back when. Sure would like some fish’n chips from Gary’s yum

Timbo, what is going on with you?

Dennis, that Intrepid is intrepid about coming back, what is it this time? :flatten: :flatten:

Did “they” figure out what to do with you and your job?

Here is a status of my “projects”

The 39 (new one)
To put it on the 2001 corvette running gear I have to add 3" on each side so I decided to see what adding that to the fenders would look like. :flatten: Dave, my friend and the builder of most of the heavy stuff is a good artist. He did a rendering of what it will look like

I think it will look great so it is a “go” for the frame build and some structural mounting changes to the body.  Then the body will come to me for the rust repair and blocking for paint. I will also do the mods to the fenders also. Sounds so simple when put into two sentences BUT :knockout: :knockout: :knockout:

The 38 (old one)

I am doing the final body work so the doors fight right and the gaps a all the same and the final blocking out to get rid of any waviness. :knockout: :knockout: Here I have finished the gaps and have put a glaze coat of plastic and then blocked it out. I shot a coat of epoxy primer and am now in the process of blocking that. Next will be another coat of epoxy followed by a coat of high build primer and blocking again. :knockout: :knockout: I think after that I will put it together and give it a couple of rod runs (2 to 3 hundred miles) then pull it all apart for final paint.  Most of this will be done after the 39 is complete.

At least that is the “plan” today at the rate I am going who knows. . .

Then block sand with the long board, then do it again, etc :knockout: :knockout: :knockout:

Now that's an update! :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Forgot to mention, got 13 mpg with the Riv, almost double what it was before and that was with my foot in it quite a bit, should get even better now that the break in is done and I'm driving normally.

I'm sure that's Gary's favourite day of the year, with the show right at his doorstep the place is packed from morning right through the day.

Should be an interesting job stretching the fenders 3" but it sure looks like it will look great!

The 38 is coming along great, not sure why you're blocking the epoxy though? I spray a couple coats of it, give it a couple days to dry properly, then pound on 3 coats of high build and block that, then repeat the high build/blocking as many times as needed. I know they new products that I'm not aware so maybe yours is a combo that is meant to be sanded? The epoxy I use isn't meant to provide any build just sealing, protecting and some tooth for the next step. Must feel great to see it primer, looks so much closer to coming together

That is great gas mileage considering everything will surely improve when you start cruz'n rather that hotrod'n :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well my sanding the Epoxy is an impatience thing rather that what you are suppose to do. :knockout: :knockout: :knockout: I plan to get the high build later this week but I will reseal all my corrections before I use the high build. :allgood: :allgood:

I figure if i did that roof section replacement I should be able to shape and install a 3" strip in the fenders. I know when I say that I will have some surprises in store that i haven't counted on :flatten: :flatten: :flatten: :splat:

There's no doubt in my mind that you can do it and do it well, and perhpas it won't be as daunting as I imagine :goodjob: :goodjob: Having said that, I'm pretty happy that it's you doing it not me

I guess it depends a lot on how much curve has to go into it side to side, front to back isn't a problem. Tubbing a car a bit is easy enough, just add a flat strip up the middle. Can you do that with your fenders or will it have to shape every which way?

It'll look very cool and it'll handle and go like stink!! Quite the dream car

A few more pics since you asked

Nice 63 but I'm not into the hydros, air bags are my preference if you want to go low

Considering the population on the island there's an amazing collection of classic cars. :goodjob:

Going to another show this weekend not far from the cabin, last day of work today, then off for 3 weeks

I've been picking away at the Stang, did a small patch on the inner fender and now working on a bigger patch like I did on the other side, where the top of the 2 piece inner fender got scabbed together in a rather hideous way.
