Hope the next one works out better Dennis, hopefully you can off to a better start. If you think their a bunch of idiots you may want to keep that to yourself for a while
The Stang has been kicking my butt, nothing but grief with the hood, fender, grill shell and bezels. The design of these cars is downright moronic. Most cars don't have this add on pot metal bezel on the fender, the fit is crap and you can't weld it
The hood sits too high in the middle and adjusting the fandangled billet hinges is a nightmare

Its ok Just knowing its a job seekers market and not the employers changes things.
My phone rings constantly from head hunters looking to fill jobs all over the country. All of them have the same thing to say, They cant get any one for $18-$20 dollars an hour. I have turned down good jobs myself in my search just because I don't wanna move. There is something wrong with the industry when I am signing off some of the most technically sophisticated aircraft ever built as airworthy with over 200+ Souls on board and have to pass multiple FBI background checks and have to pee in a cup. I have a problem with the industry when My Trash collector makes more than I do. I personally know auto mechanics and Machinist that make more than I do. A topped out aircraft mechanic for UPS and FEDEX make over $50 hr as a good example. Now there is a shortage of good mechanics guys are jumping around going from one job to the next going for the money as there are no pensions only a 401k. before it all settles out expect to start seeing another round of airline mergers and airline ticket prices climb without a limit and NEVER come down to today's cheap prices ever again. Well settled in a bit more got a schedule now and worked my first night all alone on the MOC desk. gotta say its a lot less stressful on nights without all the big wigs running around trying to prove how superior they are to every one else.
The work flow is very casual at nite, I have a few more things to figure out but this may be a good gig for me just as I first thought but I'm not gonna turn down a job offer from a more stable company if the money is right. I wanted to be a part in a small outfit but this one may be too small, I think its in process of shrinking into oblivion especially for as long as they have been in business, after talking to some of the old timers that have been around for a while they don't paint a pretty picture. Doug
Got any updates? I'm waiting to get a couple checks under my belt then I'm gonna start hitting it again. I think the Argon bottle I got this last time has a slow leak checked my gas and I am completely out just got the regulator rebuilt too? Im gonna try to get some glass to start re stripping the Plymouth on the first. I sure would like to get that one back on track that and some Argon. I wish bottles wernt so dang expensive I would like to keep a few on hand so I don't run out when Im trying to do or in the middle of stuff. my local supplier has better hours and days off and holidays than any Banker I ever heard of! Dennis, how is the new job? have you got back to any of the projects yet?
Rob, did you get the glass hood finished? I am now at the point I'm buying all the front AC. PS, ALT and all the brackets. I have a very small work area with the clearance for the Corvette front suspension, the Rack and the steering getting through the maze. I think I have to go with Vintage Air Chevy LS Front Runner Drive System. of course it is very expensive. NOW "excuse time" my photo bucket account has changed so I cant post pictures . actually I just haven't taken the time to figure it out Hope all is well with both you guys? it needs to be lowered with big and littles. .

Hi Doug
Job is going great now, I Been working on Calvins Mustang we are rebuilding the engine that we just put in a month or two ago. Started out to be just a cam and Aluminum heads, but when we inspected bearings they were shot worn into the copper so out the crank came, its all back from machine shop now & going back together now. The block has been decked crank turned rods checked, new AFR heads and a new roller cam should be close to 450 hp now when we get it all back together. He also picked up a fresh Posi for his 411 gears and a new set of rear axles. we think it may have a bent axle as it had a vibration we never did figure out we had checked every thing had drive shaft checked and balanced checked rear end pinion angle engine transmission mounts and only thing left to check is the axles. Rob WOW at this point I would go back to the originals and call it good. Those custom ones look nice but are they worth the trouble? Dennis B.

In theory they have the same amount of adjustment as the stock ones, biggest difference is the access to the bolts so they should work eventually.
I haven't given up yet, they look a lot better in person than the pics show and the effortless ease of opening and closing the hood is really cool. Now moving onto the dumbest question I've ever asked, and that's saying something. I was over at my son's helping him with his 48 Chevy, we can't find neutral? It's a 3 speed column shift and there's no neutral point, no matter where you are with it, it's in a gear. As far as I know neutral should be the same as a floor shift, in the throw over area. The linkage on the trans looks similar to a turbo 350, just click, click, click, click so nothing makes sense there either Rob

Rob
Try finding 1st pull up and swing up, 2nd if in neutral first pull up and swing down, if in first its strait swing down. 3rd is push down pull up, if in second swing up push down swing up. rev is push down swing down. reverse and 3rd con be reversed as can revers be as explained as 1st above but then pull up swing down becomes 1st, pull up push down swing up becomes second push down swing down 3rd. All in how you set up arm on transmission and what shifter rods you have and what shifter when you can find all gears neutral is in center push up and down makes perfect sens to me Dennis B.
