I think Doug was busy, I've been banging my head against the wall mostly :knockout:

Put the engine in, cleaned up the trans and hooked them up from under, would have had to drop the unit in almost vertical so this made the most sense. The only hitch was not noticing that the motor was from a standard (mine's a C4 auto) so it had a pilot bearing :knockout: :knockout: :knockout: That was all sorts of joy to remove :splat:

Anyway the motor/trans are in but I'm still waiting on my trans crossmember to arrive so the picker is still hooked on and the tailshaft is sitting on a jack

Thanks Dennis, still a very long ways to go. I'm a bit concerned about the suspension, the car is sitting way too high. I figured it would drop quite a bit when I put the motor and trans in but it barely moved. I know there's still doors etc but that doesn't amount to that much weight. If I drape my 180 lb body on either end it barely drops so I don't know, needs to come down the better part of 3" at the back, not sure about the front as it has no fenders.

You will be surprised how much it will drop by the time you get every thing back in it and on it there its a lot more weight their than you think it doesn't seam like a lot but it really is.
I would expect maybe inch, inch and a half maybe two inches far side.

I would have expected it too sit higher with new springs & another thought are you looking at it with the final tire size your gonna use ? smaller tire size would throw looks off.

What size tires and rims did the company you bought the kit from have on their advertising car? probably different size tires and rims front and back I bet to get the looks right I bet.

The front has come down a bit so that's good, we'll see where it is once I have fenders on it. The back is still a couple inches high. I know every thing I put back on will add up but still surprised at the height.

The setup would have been based on a stock 65 V8 stang with stock wheels, and both front and back springs are 1" lowering. I will be going with a similar diameter wheel but more rim, less tire, probably a 17" rim not a 14.

Nice seeing it totally on the ground, looks a lot smaller and more sports car like after having it up in the air so long.

I got one door put on today but I need to fix the outer shock tower piece before I can get that fender on. It's going to look a whole lot different soon, well soon by my standards :rotfl: :rotfl:

With all the progress I guess Your back is doing ok now?

Its starting to really cool off now around hear wont be long and it will be flat out cold.
That reminds me its time to winterize the Swamp cooler on the shop before it freezes and breaks pipes again lol.

Yeah the back is pretty good, just had a follow up with my surgeon the other day and everything looks great. No more broken screws this time :goodjob: Sitting still hurts but apparently that is a tight muscle issue so they've got me stretching now so hopefully that will help.

It's been cooling off here too but still decent, about 50 degrees. Hope it's a mild winter.

I fixed the repop outer shock piece, had to weld up the holes and drill them in the right place. If they can't drill them right they shouldn't drill them at all, would make life simpler.

I need to strip the fenders and weld in a bracket at the bottom that bolts it to the bottom. The idiot that patched the bottom previously just ignored that part so it just hangs there

Well I rolled the car out of the shop for the first time since I put any color on it. So this was the first time I saw the color in natural light, I was hoping I liked it as it was a custom color I created out of necessity. I'm very happy with it, it's a bit redder than the pics, not quite as orange but just as much pop to it as the pics show. I can't wait to get the whole thing in paint one day. The quarters are still in tinted primer hence the flat look. I plan on assembling all the sheetmetal for final body work and then unfortunately take it all apart again for paint. Not sure if I'll put it back together for final paint once the underside of hood and trunk and backside of doors, fenders are painted. We'll see about that later
