It's got the normal rust issues in a few spots but it is very straight, I don't think it's ever been hit hard. front bumper has a dent but that's about it. What lurks under the vinyl top may not be pretty.

Horrible weather up here today, it's been raining a lot lately and now we have near hurricane winds so trees are just tipping over out of the ground, root ball and all. My son had 3 trees fall so far, totalled the 5th wheel trailer, a truck, the tow truck I did for him, a parts car, couple of fences, a patio and some gutters. Mkaes me sick thinking about it. The good news is nobody was killed, the tree that just missed the house is a gigantic fir.

Rob so sorry to here about your sons misfortune.  It is good that the house was missed and everyone is safe. I cant believe the truck you spent so much time on is destroyed. The trees up there are so beautiful you don't even think of the damage they can do.
it needs to be lowered with big and littles. .

Thanks Doug. The trees he has are 250+ year old Douglas Firs, they're pretty darn huge. Needless to say he isn't very happy about it but I keep reminding him how lucky they were, could have just as easily hit the house and killed them. For that matter he had a friend living in the 5th wheel up until a few months ago, the tree went right through the center of the sleeping area so if he was there he'd be dead. The rest is just stuff, it sucks but it can be replaced. Another tree had an aggregate patio around it so when it tipped over there went the patio  He cut his way through a bunch of the the tree and thinks the tow truck can be fixed but it needs a door, fender, inner fender, hood, rad support, etc. and that's just at a glance, probably a lot worse. The early 70's Ford pickup it hit actually had a tire explode and the rear diff broke in half

It was a rare SE wind and caused the most damage we've probably ever seen, it wasn't just him, it happened all over.

Naturally none of the vehicles were insured at the time, you may remember I told you some grumpy cop gave him an inspection notice, literally for no reason on the tow truck so it was off the road until he had time to go through it and make sure it was perfect in every way.

Nope, it would only cover damage to the home and property and by the time you pay your deductable and factor in your new higher insurance rate for the next 5 years it isn't really worth it. Only vehicle insurance covers vehicles. If your house burns to the ground with your car in the garage it isn't covered by house insurance, I have storage insurance on all my cars that aren't otherwise insured.

Hi Guys

Rob
Holly S--- I glad everyone is alright and no one got hurt but dam that's a lot to loose all at once.
I hope your son can recover from that much lose all at once gonna be really hard when he was just starting out with his own business.

I been working on trying to get my fence up around my property and fixing stuff around house need to refinance to get Xs name off loan part of agreement in devorce so I been busy with all of that stuff.
Bank trying to tell me i'm 15K under current value  so I need to get new appraisal so I am trying to do a lot of work before that happens every little bit is going to help. Fence will give me 10% alone and When they add in all the upgrades I have done will add more when they do a Full appraisal.
I am sure I will be OK or at least not be under water like so many others, I will be glad when its all over.

Hey Bondo!!!!

Dennis,
I hope the higher appraisal isn't going to take more money out of your pocket towards the divorce settlement? My son will regroup, it's a kick in the teeth but as long as nobody got hurt it's all good. He's still trying to wrap his head around what to do with a 10+ ft diameter root ball? Without spending a bunch of money of course. One is up in the woods so it can stay, the other is in what was the patio :knockout:

Timbo,
I'm in Canada so our insurance may be somewhat different but I doubt by much if any. The only surprises you ever get with insurance are bad ones. If you look at your house insurance it will have a replacement amount for the house, a bit for out buildings and some for general content and general content isn't the uninsured Deusenberg in your garage. Here storage insurance for your car is $30 a year but I haven't read the fine print, could be that only the ones I have in garages are covered? I'll have to check that next time.

I know my insurance I have for my building doesnt cover much inside I have to have a second written deal for stuff inside and it doesnt cover vehicles of any kind either. I have to have collector car insurance on those in order to be covered and they have to be inside a building or garage.

I left the hood on my charger just laying where its supposed to be 80mph winds picked it up a few months ago and bent it all up.
That's hood number two

We got hit again with hi winds the other day as well 80+ mph did damage to both places but minor.

Boy this is all very sad on the wind damage seen. :flatten: :flatten:  I should feel lucky when we get the Santa Ana (devil wends) I just get a pool full of leaves and branches and my side yard work area cover shredded. :knockout: :knockout:

I haven't got much car work done either how ever I am very close to getting the trunk lid fitting great. :allgood: :allgood: I am using the all metal in various spots to build up the seems to narrow the gap. I don't use it on the lid its self that will all be steel. :knockout: :knockout: I have used 1/8" welding rod to reduce gap size where necessary and then ground to fit. It also reinforces the almost rusted through bottom edge.

The all metal is used sparingly to maintain a constant gap size. The all metal is a real pain to use, it kicks quickly but remains semi-hard and gummy for hours. :flatten: :realmad: :realmad: It does seem to give me a real hard edge though so I guess i can say it does its job
it needs to be lowered with big and littles. .
