Glad your back is better, I guess chopping wood is better for you than sitting

I just have to carefully sand and taper everything so I don't loose things that are flat. The high build stuck real well every where else. I used 120 lbs pressure through a small 1/16" little hand held blower to check everything to make sure I didn't have problems elsewhere  :knockout: :knockout:

BTW - Photobucket is working properly at work again, not that I do that but it is

BTW 2 - Glad you are making progress with the Stang

BTW 3 - I still see the old EL Camino and it always looks REALLY good
it needs to be lowered with big and littles. .

Well I wouldn't say chopping wood is necessarily better, when I'm off I do a lot of different things which is the key. I can't do any single thing for a full day, the more variance the better :goodjob:

You'll have to be really careful spraying those areas again, wouldn't want the same result :splat:

I'll have to check the work photobucket thing, just as a test situation of course

Nice that you still see the El Camino around, I don't think I've ever seen a car I sold again and there's a couple I would like to see.

Hi guy's
Well I got the VW cams in and got the car running with out much problem, and it ran good idle and driving for most part. so we went back to working on Plymouth till the trip, taking Marvin back to his Mother about half way into trip car started with problems I nursed it there and back and have been playing with it ever since.

This little car has sent me back to school, It's very interesting how this little engine works in the 06 VW TDI but at same time VERY frustrating, At this point I am convinced it has multiple intermittent problems In end which makes it VERY hard to trouble shoot.
I'm lucky I have any hair left at all :knockout:

The car has Many design problems from the get go which were never corrected by VW as i am finding out on other internet forums.
Most parts are very expensive, and to boot were never designed to last very long either.
There are alternatives to a couple of my current problems but none I really like.

I have purchased the correct computer to talk to cars computer so I am not working in the dark but hear again its sending me back to school too its ALL metric ! and I'm not too metric savvy then the book doesn't say anything about how to use the computer too trouble shoot parts or the system ARGGGG. The book that was recomended sucks! doesn't explain how the system is supposed to work and doesn't explain how to trouble shoot the parts either so as to not replace good parts.
The Internet forums are chock full of good info about system and about the parts in question but are laced with every ones opinions and experiances as well making it difficult to pick out good info from bad.
I want and need to purchase the Factory manual and I probably will in the near future perhaps it will be better I'm not sure.

Any way we have the Plymouth about ready for a coat of hi-build Primmer, we have put two coats of Feather fill on it now and sanded it out twice before all this started, Wish I had used Slick-sand instead of Feather-fill still have a few small places on roof and the quarters that need a bit more fill and am Torn if I should use another coat of Feather-fill or go with a couple coats of Hi-build????? TOM????? opinion????

My thoughts are to use another coat or two of Feather fill till body is perfect then do a coat of ********** Regular pimmer which is like every one elses Hi-build and sand too 400-600 finish wet before base. But I don't want a problem with cracking when car flexes from 500-600 hp engine and 4:88 gears.

Still need to order parts such as Torq-box's, sub-frame connectors, and even thinking about adding a 4 point cage, along with all the other new parts such as seat covers, door seals, head-liner, carpet, dash cover, window seals, window felts etc.

OH and the Intrepid was back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had Fixed a couple problems on it and took it for test drive all WAS GOOD TILL hood flew up and over roof!!!!!!!!!!! :realmad:  OMG I did not need this now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need hood windshield and it put two big dents in roof right over my previous repair line OMG!!!!!! (only good news was My repair did not crack!!!! or break!!!!!) I'm hoping that I can simply work the dents out with pressure with out repainting BUT that's yet to be seen need new hood and windshield first and base wind screen plastic piece and maybee new hood hinges too.

Any way now you guys are up to date on whats going on out hear in the desert :knockout:

Dennis those intermittent probs will make you pull your hair out I know! On the small stuff for the Plymouth you could shoot more feather fill but if the areas are small and few I would skim with glaze putt like icing. Block 80 then a few strokes of 180. Epoxy then the urethane high build. Just suggestions. When I shoot my poly I go at least 2 coats and 3 is my norm. Most of it will come back off but can or will help fill some minors that could have been missed. Gotta go cut grass and work on an 08 MKZ in a bit. Cy'all

You might want to think about selling the VW once you've fixed it, sounds like it will drive you crazy over and over again, and even though the labour is free it's still a pain and parts aren't free.

Speaking of going crazy over and over, I can't believe your luck with that Intrepid :flatten: :flatten: :flatten: That is totally brutal :knockout: :knockout:

Sounds like the Plymouth is getting close :goodjob: :goodjob:

I'm doing mostly yard work this weekend, trimming my 600 foot hedge :splat: :splat:

Doing a little work on the Stang during rest breaks :goodjob:

Dennis;

Hind site :splat: :splat: You SHOULD HAVE junked the Intrepid and bought them a new car :flatten: :flatten: I know who would have known :realmad: :realmad: Best to you.

Plymouth is sounding real close now I hope that goes your way.

600 ft of hedge to trim that makes my back hurt thinking about that

I got the "primer bridging" finally taken care of, sealed and re primed. :knockout: it is amazing how much better that high build is to shoot when thinned  I am starting on the cowl and firewall now. I filled the mounting holes for the rotisseries so i will have to fab something so i can mount to the front body mounts now rather than the sheet metal.

That's coming along really nicely Doug :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Funny how thinning your primer helps so much

Other than the hedge, which is really beating me up I haven't done too much. I've started cleaning up the bottom of the frame rails and what not under there when I've had a bit of time, more tar and goo of course :knockout:

Going to a couple car shows up near the cabin this weekend, that's always fun. :pcorn:
