So I am doing a fiberglass body build and am getting close to paint. This is my first paint job. I have done all the body work and sprayed some slick sand.got everything smooth..sprayed Tamco high build primer and blocked that to 400. I have some sand through the primer on a couple spots where I can see gel goat. Can I get by with hitting those spots with a couple reduced coats and doing the whole body to 600 grit in prep for a blue metallic paint? Or should I sand it all to 600 then use the Tamco primer reduced as a no-sand sealer (I'd rather not do a sealer if I can get away with it based on my spray setup)
Thanks in advance.

If you hit those spots and get everything consistent - no need to seal.

I'm gonna say that you will be fine with your burn through spots as long as 1) the edges are feathered properly and 2) you haven't sanded past the gel coat into resin.

Well I sprayed the sand throughs again and sanded everything to 600 grit but still had some corners and edges peaking through. This is like the 4th time I have primed..so it is all slick as hell but I just can't get the edges to stay covered. Since it is a dark blue metallic and should hide well think I can just shoot it?

Yeah, you need to go very light on edges like that. And yes, you will be fine.

First couple panels came out pretty good so we will see.
