So first, let me tell you my current setup for restoring plastic headlights.
I mask off the edges of the light and cover surrounding area for overspray. I start with 600 grit, sanding horizontaly then move to 1k. Once all oxidation is gone, i wipe off lights and spray rustoleum uv protection clear for plastics. Then i hit this with some 2000 grit and then buff with rubbing compound. The end result is a brand new headlight cover that wont oxidize for at least 2 years (oldest car ive done this on).
Im searching for a product that i could apply as the clear uv protection coat that would not require spraying on but would last just as long as my current setup or longer without yellowing/hazing. So any suggestions on a wipe on clear uv protectant that can dry fast and be sanded/buffed and works for PLASTIC? Also, please do not suggest protecting the headlights with wax as a solution as my end goal is to refurbish the headlight covers to factory condition.
Thanks in advance.
