So I have a carbon fiber hood and the hood vents are plastic.
The plastic tabs on one side have been broken off.
Would something like 3M tape hold this vent in place or is there something stronger I could use?
The vents are designed to vent heat so they will probably be getting pretty hot.
Thanks for any help.

Sure, here's a couple pictures of the hood without the vents, with the vents, and the vents themselves. http://www.samjam.com/Mustang/KR1.jpg http://www.samjam.com/Mustang/KR2.jpg http://www.samjam.com/Mustang/KR3.jpg http://www.samjam.com/Mustang/Vent1.jpg http://www.samjam.com/Mustang/Vent2Broken.jpg For some reason it always says "Forbidden" But if you copy and paste the link into the browser it will show the image. I don't know how else to post an image. |
Maybe use a higher temp style tape like this....
https://www.amazon.com/CS-Hyde-Temperat ... B000RELQ20 Never used it before but it spec.s out at 500 degrees. I would think it would easily hang in there for normal underhood temp.s Metal, wood, fiberglass, we work it all... www.furniturephysicians.com We can restore the irreplaceable!

Doesn't seem to have very many good reviews. Do you think the 3m won't hold where it's located? I've even thought of some type of adhesive like this http://3mcollision.com/products/sealant ... 08551.html But I don't know if that would be a better solution. Thanks for your help |
I could not find any temperature range for the 3m tape. I have seen it fail with trim guys have used on air cleaners and such. How about using just regular clear silicone tube caulk? That stuff is rated out to 600 degrees. Also, on my 2006 Corvette my headlight lenses were just plain shot. The whole headlight buckets were going to run like $600 to $1000 used. I ended up finding a guy that would just sell me new lenses however I had to heat gun loose the old lenses and then reseal them with this....
