Ok, where do I start?
1) It was a crazy summer and fall with Project Firebird! Actually calling it crazy, is a big understatement. There were times durign the last 30 days of the project, when I was not sure we'd get it done in time for the car to get to SEMA Show, well 2013 SEMA Show. anyhow. We could NOT accomplished this task without the help of friends who pitched in to help and the companies who supported the project. The fact that these companies put their support behind a project in a small shop like mine, shows how awesome these companies are. I'm no Chip Foose, I do not have a TV show. My shop is a small 2 person place, where we concentrate on quality not quantity. I do write books and articles, and I only use equipment and products I like using. These are companies who products I have used for most of my career, mentioning them for years in books and articles. In fact I have turned down offers for products that I do not use.
2) Immediately after returning from SEMA Show in mi Nov, I started working full time on my book. I worked on it for part of 2012 and 2013, and somehow managed to write 3 chapters during Project Firebird. I've spent the last 6 weeks working on the book, writing 15 chapters and going through the earlier ones, checking them over. The book is done! 27 chapters plus introductions, around 90,000 words and over 700 photos. Its the more comprehensive book on automotive prep, bodywork and custom painting ever written. I explain paint guns, how paint works, replacing panels, painting flames and graphics, air, tons of stuff. There's a special emphasis on waterborne painting with several chapters devoted to waterborne. if I had room I would have fit more stuff in there.
3) The Videos. All through Project Firebird, we filmed everything. Next week, I'll start editing the video and posting it on Youtube. Viewers will be able to see the Firebird go from Rusty hulk to gleaming show car. And its not the usual nuts and bolts video. It was impossible not to capture the occasional insanity that went down.
4) We got some pretty cool projects in the shop, and from time to time we will be filming some of it. My Youtube channel will become a how to Channel. Everything from custom paint and airbrushing to installing a motor. I'm excited about our projects.
5) And there's other big news coming up. I can't talk much about it yet. I'm working with some pretty neat people and 2014 is going to be a wild ride.
6) I will be taking some time this year. I have to say I worked too much last year. I did not spend enough down time. That is never a good thing. This year one of my resolutions is to take more weekends off.
Please know I will be checking and posting here each week, so if anyone has questions on custom work, please post them!

And here is a picture of the finished Firebird. Due to time constraints, we have to take it to Vegas and back on an open trailer. It ended up being a 5000 mile road trip by the time we were done. And the new paint was in great shape at the end of it. It shows that using a very good quality product and the correct prep and paint, results in a custom painting finish that is very very durable.
More later got to get back in the shop!

Boy, with the base color of that car your flames almost "come alive." Great job all the way around, thanks for sharing.
