i know harbor freight tools are not quality but i am thinking of buying one to shoot some primer. they have a siphon feed gun with a 1.8 tip for $17.99 or they have a kit with 2 gravity fed guns in it. one is a touch up gun and the other is a reg sized gun with a 1.4 and 1.8 tip for 49.99$. i am just wanting to shoot polyester primer out of the gun. would one of these work fairly decently?

Do yourself a HUGE favor. When you get this gun, take EVERYTHING out and clean it as much as possible. This includes the air that goes through the handle, too. I've been through so many HF guns because they would contaminate my work, while my friends HF gun puts out EVERYTHING in immaculate condition.
I bought another gun from Home depot just to see if I could get away from the contamination (which I still didn't) and someone recommended I cleaned the handle part of the gun, too. This worked and I have not had any problems since.

Weird, never had a problem (at least, not from the HF gun).

Instructions I got with DeVilbiss Starting line set, as well as the DeVilbiss Plus gun, had Notes:

"Protective coating and rust inhibitors have been used to keep the gun in good condition prior to shipment. Before using the gun, flush it with solvents so that these materials will be removed from fluid passages."

Every gun I bought (including stuff NOT from HF) has given me problems like that.
