Looking to buy myself a new clear gun
How does the W-400 compare to the Tekna w/7e7? I know the W-400 is a conventional but from what I've heard is a great gun for clear. I'm not too concerned with the extra overspray, I just wanna get as good a finish as possible with HS clears
Can get a new W-400 for about $200
Thanks!

You need to give it some more time, there are probably not a ton of people here who have used both an Iwata W400 and a Tekna copper with the 7E7 cap. I have not, otherwise I would have answered...

Send me over one of those $200 w-400s and I'll do a comparison for you against my Tekna.

I don't have (but have previously used) a W-400. It wasn't a great gun by any means. Certainly not to the level of a Sata 3000/4000 or Tekna/ProLite.
The W-400 really needed about 35 psi to run well with a 1.3. The pattern wasn't as big as the Supernova (~11" vs. ~13"). It was still soft, but I'm not sure that it's a good match for HS clears nowadays as they lay down thinner. You may have a problem with it drying too fast ... However, $200 for a new name brand spray gun is a pretty good deal, especially if you can adjust your spraying technique to match the gun. |

I keep hearing the W-400 is a great clear gun, and many like it more than the lph400
Urg. A lot of money to spend and not be happy. I'm waiting on a kit for my lph and am impatient |
