I just bought a compressor that says it can do 5.5 @40 psi...im looking at this gun from HF wich says its 6cfm....will it work?...i paint guitars not card so i dont need it to spray long sections...also, it says its good for base & primer...anyone know if it would work for clear?

i was also looking at this touchup gun & was thinking about getting the larger cups..

For short sessions it should be ok. Keep in mind most compressor specs are stated pretty optimistically and the HF guns I am convinced are severely understated in terms of air requirements (unless the research scientists at HF have figured out how to overcome the laws of physics). Even saying this, you should be ok for short sessions and small projects like a guitar.

The touch up paint gun still holds a ton of paint, if you have a local HF go look at it in person, the purple gun's gun has enough capacity to paint a few panels on a car, I highly doubt a guitar will need that much paint.

You might also check out http://t.harborfreight.com/adjustable-detail-spray-gun-92126.html.

I use it on small objects like mailboxes and handrails.

Very happy with the paint finish when using this gun.
