Here's my situation. I have an MG I'm stripping and prepping for paint. Everything is down to bare metal and I'm ready to spray epoxy, do minor body filling, slick sand, then 2k urethane. All the door, fenders, panels are off.....so I'll just be spraying panels individually.

My compressor isn't really equipped for HVLP guns (HF 30 gallon 5.9 CFM @90 / 7.3 @40psi) and I can't get 220v into my garage to power a better compressor (panel is full and its a rental property). I'm planning on letting a professional do the base/clear coats......so I really only need the capacity to spray the primers and slick sand. What are my options? LVLP guns? Whats a good low CFM gun? I found a Devilbiss Finishline 4 on craigslist .....but my compressor definitely can't ahndle that. Reading through the forums of many DIY auto sprayers.....I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't have a 220v compressor.

If you are just priming panel-by-panel on a little MG, I'd go for it. Worst that can happen is that you'll have to wet sand the epoxy primer...which it sounds like you were prepared to do anyway. I stand to be corrected based on my limited experience, but I know my little 30 gallon, 1.8 hp Kobalt would do a little MG door.

I have the Finishline 4. Nice gun. You'll want to have the correct nozzle for primer. I sprayed Eastwood epoxy primer with a Graco FX-3000 1.4mm. It laid down nice and slick. My Finishline 4 has the 1.3 mm tip. I only used it for clear.

Just my Opinion every one has one, Buy the bigger air compressor and make a 220 extension cord to go from your drier plug to the garage. You can try playing with the toy compressor's all you want but its just to big of a job for toys.
You can make extension cord easy buy two plugs at home depot and some Romex wire, electrical problem solved.

Ever try to mix up just enough anything just to do a panel at a time? let alone a Polly primmer get it wrong or wait too long and its sitting up in your gun!
This stuff has a Pot life and Slick sand and Feather Fill have some of the shortest just not something you want in your gun while your waiting for a compressor to catch up!
