Devilbiss makes great guns like the Tekna Prolite. But if you looking for an extremely fine finish I would say Iwata Super Nova or even a SATA 4000 with a 1.3 tip for clear.

I've been fortunate enough to be able to shoot all of the major guns (Sata 3000/4000/5000, Iwata LPH400's and Supernova, DeVilbiss Tekna/ProLite, etc.), and I keep coming back to the DeVilbiss products because of the cost/performance ratio.

IMHO, the high-end DeVilbiss guns atomize every bit as well as the Sata and Iwata at a much better price point. I have repeatedly found that the Iwata needs to be run at the upper end (or over) the posted pressure range for best atomization, but at the expense of creating a lot of overspray. The Satas (esp. the 4000/5000) are very nice guns, but you pay almost twice as much as the ProLite for the same level of atomization.

As for the best gun for you, I cannot recommend any particular tip/cap combo without knowing what you are spraying and in what type of environment. Keep in mind, this is my $0.02 worth, and everyone has their own opinions. If you paint a lot, you can likely make most any high-end gun spray well, in which case "feel" of the gun is just as important.
Good luck in your decision!

First thing to check is your air compressor CFM output. Make sure you have enough CFM output to fulfill your gun's CFM requirements.
The most expensive gun will not produce good results if your compressor is not up to the task.

The Finex takes about 10 CFM to run it. What air pressure (with trigger pulled) are you trying to spray at?

I only have experience with the iwata lph400 hvlp 1.4 tip. It is def a great gun and worth every penny but it can be a little touchy when it comes to fine tuning. You will for the most part get a good finish as long as you don't spray under pressure. I have sprayed base coats both solid and metallic and clear coat without any issues.

If you can't get a Glass finish with what you have something is wrong.
What you have is a really good gun, I suggest you learn what Is wrong with it and learn how to use it properly before investing more money into another gun.

I remember when one of my Devilbiss guns the FLG started spraying all messed up pattern and no amount of cleaning would fix it and it stayed like that for six months every time I picked it up and played with it I got the same thing funky spray pattern messed up with runs and I tore it apart cleaning it spotless each time. I was ready to pitch it the last time I had it apart I inspected the nozzle tip pieces with a magnifying glass thinking maybe one of my helpers had dropped it or pieces of it or something? I dint find any thing wrong till I looked at my needle and at the very tip of it at the sharp point there was a tiny tiny micro piece of Paint stuck to it I mean Tiny micro small cleaned it off and dressed it with scotch Brite pad and put it all back together again and it was like a new gun all over again I could not believe all that time I had soaked all the parts repeatedly in Lacquer thinner and cleaned every thing so many times and that spot had hung on.

My FLG is the bottom of the run of the Finish line series and you never hear anything about them I use mine primarily for primers which is a hell of a gun for Primer use because it will lay down clear like glass I know because I have done it with it It also sprays Base coats really well too, so just because it didn't cost a million bucks doesn't mean it wont spray like one that did. If you need an excuse to go blow money on a expensive gun just do it but don't publicly bad mouth a fine Gun like a Sharp Finex in the process because there are many hear that know that's one Hell of a great gun and will lay down Clear like Glass with no problem!
