does connecting air compressors in tandem significantly increase cfm? i currently have a small compressor and plan to purchase a bigger one in the future to be able to use it on various air tools with high cfm requirements. thanks guys!

Yes it can work but when the compressors are of different sizes (and differing CFM ratings) what can happen is the larger compressor will always "win" over the smaller one and the smaller one may never even turn on. When the two compressors are a very close match you can just "T" them together -- when they are significantly different you may need to screw around with the tank cut-in/cut-off pressure switches on both of them, to balance the equation.

Check the advanced search feature out here there have been lot's of discussions on this in the past.
