Anyone have experience with a shop cleaner?

I was thinking of something like this:

I just installed a spray booth and want to keep the intake filters clean and don't like the other tools get dirty. I'm using vacuum DA sanders now with the exhaust ducted outside when possible.

Well, first, we have a wood shop situation so dust should be our middle name. We have used those bigger box style units before with some limited success in scrubbing the dust out of the air. The only problem with them is that you must mount them somewhere which is always a central location which is not where the dust is being produced. Heavier dust will always head for the floor, workbenches, tools, etc., before these units can "pull" it up. In my opinion you get better dust control by going with what I call a "point of use" collection system which is cheaper and more easily managed. We use this type of unit....

You simply place it near where you are making dust. Bondo dust is especially elusive with most filters again because of weight and also some electrostatic properties. When we clean the filters out on these units you can see the colored bondo dust in there along with all the other crap they collect. Even with these filters you are still going to have some dust in the workplace but I think they help a lot.

I have a couple like that and they are great to have. My shop is multi use. Wood, welding, grinding, powder coating, puttering. I have a few different dust abatement systems. A couple of inline vent fans being the first, a cyclone dust collector at the tools being used being second and these ceiling mounted filters third. When I clean them out every now and then, they pick up a lot of dust .I also wear my mask whenever I think about it.
