I see that Tekna has a new gun for spraying basecoats ---has anyone here bought one or been able to try a demo. I'm curious to hear some opinions from someone who has tried one.
Thanks

I bought one last week, the one with the 1.2 - 1.3 tip sizes.
Yesterday I sprayed a Dodge RAM, 5 panels. PS2 silver. I started spraying with the 1.3 and noticed right away a nice even fan, but atomization is a bit on the course side. For the last two coats of base I switched to the 1.2 and I think it worked better with finer droplets on the blend area. Played with it from 12 to 16 PSI. Basecoat came out nice and even, no streaking or mottling. Matrix LOW VOC solvent with ********** 0885-1 slow reducer. I'm happy with the spray gun, feels a bit top heavy with the 3M PPS cup and 20 oz of paint, but nothing I won't get used to. |
