I found high flow fitting make a big difference when using a full size gun that requires higher CFM. Mini guns will run fine with el cheapo fittings.

You can counteract the loss problems by running
higher pressure to the gun and lowering the pressure there, at the gun with a gun regulator. You'll have to run more than 60 to 70 PSI to the gun to do that. I got the larger fittings at Home Depot, they do work better. JC.

You just have to think of air systems like a water system. You don't run good flowing pipes and then choke them down with small faucets. And as JC has pointed out if you do go down to small faucets you try to compensate with opening them up more to increase pressure. I switched to hi-flo fittings 25 years ago in our wood shop and my personal hobby shop. No regrets....most are better made as well.

Here's the difference between a std 1/4" fitting and a 3/8" one.
They both fit a std air hose 1/4" threaded end but the 3/8" one clearly has a much larger opening in the fitting. This is the bottle neck in the system. JC.

I've heard Home Depot or Lowes has some, but there's not one where I live, so I looked at Menards, and sure enough, they had some. Was able to buy them individually. They are aluminum, which don't bother me since we're running low psi for the painting system anyway.
