And that's a good question..... Seems like the el cheapo ones that come on those cheaper guns would have to be..... I just got into the habit over the years of not even using them so the question remains.....

So are you ordering SATA guns without the integral air gauge?

I don't understand why a manufacturer of spray guns would add or sell a component that would hinder its performance.

most guns come with built in regulators. most good spray gun company's Iwata, SATA,
have training programs to train you properly on using a spray gun and not hindering the equipment and using the tool properly.

that being said they must also consider "and you too" that you will need some adjustment as youre painting. to leave you with no adjustment capabilities is what would hinder the gun as useless.

Most guns recommendations aren't for the best performance,
they're for the best environmental standards passing.
Where they can tout less stuff in the air.
Most every gun will perform better if you up the pressure
a few PSI's more than the mfg. recommendations,
but of course you'll be polluting more.

(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding)

that is a very false statement... todays guns work better with less PSI and more volume.

if you find that you are using more air than recomended on the gun you are doing something wrong... maybe material to thick from being cold, not enough reducer, etc

i spray clear 15-23 PSI

what do you use ?

I run a regulator right off my compressor 0-200 psi...normal use it's at about 150, normal use being mechanic tools and what not, but when I'm gonna get into some sanding or spraying, I turn it down to 90's. Then I have another on the other side of the shop where my air filter/dryer is, that I have a dedicated "clean and dry" air hose that only connects to that one spot, after the filter. Both are 3/4" NPT to keep the flow good. But the one on the filter/dryer line, can be adjusted down for setting the gun.
