I wanted to pick your brains and see what you experienced painters think...
I am currently working on my filtration
My current setup is as follows
7.5hp 80 gallon Curtis CA compressor
Hankison Hit20 refrigerated compressed air dryer
I have a line-up on a Sharpe Dryaire 6760 Desiccant 3 stage system. It is an older unit for $200.
My questions...
With the refrigerated dryer, do I need the desiccant system?
If YES, is this a good choice/ price for a old setup?
If NO, What filtration would you recommend?

I am not an expert on this but my system has both.
The refrigerated drier in my opinion is meant to remove moisture from the compressed air and does a great job. However oil and other contaminants that may be coming through the lines need to be removed as well. I have a desiccant filter prior to my refrigerated drier and then another one just prior to my air hose connection in the both. Overkill? Maybe but I've not had any contaminant problems with this set up. 1968 Coronet R/T
