So - I splurged a bit. Wanted to upgrade my harbor freight gun so just bought an LPH400 LVX 1.4 with gold cap.
I will likely stick to shooting my ********** epoxy with the 1.4 harbor freight, the 2k with another budget gun, and then base and clear with the Iwata.
Unless nobody see's an issue shooting my epoxy with the Iwata? If its cleaned properly? I am new to this, obviously.
The only other question I have is from what Im finding, people seem to say the LV cap shoots clear better. I will be using ********** Euro clear. I am not looking for a show quality finish, but the best I can possibly get. To me, 150 bucks for another cap just to shoot clear seems like a waste of money, unless you guys think it'll just be crap shooting the euro clear with the 1.4 LVX orange cap?
What says ye? Im getting psyched! A lot of work to do before I start spraying, but excited.

you probably want a little heavier coat of epoxy than that gun will give you

Thanks dave! Didn't expect that to be honest, as It seems from what I've read people have gotten some good results with the 1.4 tip and ********** epoxy.
Given I am going to be using some Rage gold in areas, shooting 2K, and blocking, should I just spray my first two coats of epoxy with my 1.4 purple harbor freight gun? I plan on buying a budget 1.8 to shoot my 2k primer. Then maybe I'll shoot my sealer coat of epoxy with the iwata reduced 10% Then base with the iwata with LVX cap, obviously. What about clear? Should I really go spend 140 bucks more on the silver LV4 cap? Seems like some people say the orange LVX shoots clear just fine, but some people say no way, and to use the silver. |
My experience with Iwata is pretty limited, i had 3 LPH400 silver purple orange never really liked orange or purple caps,
hopefully these guys here can have a better answer for you. i do however use a 1.4 for sealer. i dont use any HVLP guns, theyre to slow Experienced Trained Certified
