I bought a couple of Milton connector kits from Amazon. Two quick disconnects, two male plugs, and two female plugs.

What a huge difference it made with my air tools. I actually have to wear hearing protection when I use my air ratchet. Crazy powerful now.

Home Depot sells a 3/8" fitting set, about $10.00
They still use the std 1/4" hose fitting for connecting.
You'll get twice the flow with them.
The fitting is the bottleneck, the std 1/4" female fitting
has a really small hole, until you change that, the hose
won't make much difference.
Here's a picture of the std one (left) and the 3/8" one (right)
Notice the hole in the inside.
