I use simple green and 90% alcohol, not mixed though. If I spray the panel with water afterwards, the water sheets off(doesn't bubble). Seems to get it plenty clean.

You asked,,,Quote "Can I still go over all the parts with the wax remover and then resand, or should i just go with the post sanding cleaner once I'm done?

Both ways will work fine.................

Lol, thanks for clearing up that particular question for me ODG. As always, more than one way to skin a cat.
Thanks everyone for all the replies as well. Looks like rubbing alcohol and possibly vinegar for the time being. If I have to repaint next winter I'll know why. I cheaped up on a $8 bottle of wax & grease remover.

Remember,,,Vinegar is acidic. You'll want to rinse it well.

I wash everything with Dawn dish soap before starting.
And again after sanding my primer.
Don't hardly use wax and grease remover anymore,
don't need it. 8)

Just curious.....do you guys ever go over your panels with a clean shop cloth (blue Torx, Scotts or eqivilant) and wax and grease remover to see how much dirt/grease is left on the panel? I'm talking about RIGHT up to the point where you're ready to prime the panel for the first time (epoxy).

Reason I ask is....I don't see how anyone could sand a panel without some type of residue being left on the metal. Every time I prep bare metal for primer (P80 on DA) I get at least 2-3 dirty rag's worth of dirt/grease on it. Even with washing and drying with Dawn. Applying cleaner with one rag and wiping off with a 2nd clean one.
This is what I use, $6 a can:

I hope you're not getting grease from it, if so you're doing
something really wrong.
There should be no grease before or after sanding.
Wiping bare sanded metal with a rag will remove a black color
residue. That's fine, and a good idea. :D
