What grit to use?
I found a" master mechanic brand" electric. its got a dual action...not circular. it uses 5 in paper. at $70 it was cheap. so far ...I have stripped a fender of a few coats...i really like it..it seems a good substitute for those who dont have a pro grade compressor
her name is "celeste". A 70 opelgt. It is a rust free california gt that I painted myself. I am here to learn how to redo it correctly. Its a 10 footer now, but with your help, she will be something! Thanks. Great site.

I used 180 dry on a 16" board to prep the existing paint on the car for PPGs K38 2k high build. Is that to coarse, because I read in the one autobody speciel of hot rod magazine, quote "sand forever with 180 grit which is as fine as you want to go for the primer to stick well". I will be using a sealer and SS Black, so will I be able to see scratchs or have any problems down the road? And does it matter that my block has a thin foam pad on it instead of being completely solid?

It's been a sticky for about two years now. I don't think it needs anymore votes. The admin has been convinced

I've been painting now for a couple of years and although Ive got the Grades in memorized, I still come here to refer and refresh.. (Stickied ??)
Do you mean set in STONE ? YES...Good solid advise.. When I first started here I had questions about stepping out thru the grades and going to polish.. I still tell people about this site and the wisdom bestowed on me.. (There are no short cuts) To get that glass like finish. The oohs ands ahhs make that little bit of extra work all too worth while... Dont go thru the motions ... Go thru the steps.. You wont be disappointed. Tony In Tucson... |

I am not sure what you stickied means? Post a pic of Jessica Alba with it and I will see what I can do?
