Wish to use a Turkish/bath towel to recreate a stippled type stone chip
effect in the brush on seam sealer.

One of the guides on this forum suggest to use a wax or grease soaked Turkish towel to create the effect.

I have actually used the Turkish towel technique myself for many years but never used a wax or grease soaked towel, which although very effective, it can be messy.

So, which wax or grease can be used to prevent my towel sticking to the seam sealer ?

,,,Im sorry,,,but I had to laugh at this one..................................

You NEVER use wax or grease on a towel or rag to apply anything before painting!

Please tell us who that was.........

Well. If I was going to use anything. It would be thinner. I use that sparingly to smooth out seam sealer. So should soften up the sealer enough to get the texture u want with this towel???. But yah. No wax etc should be used.

Laugh you may but its for an area on a vehicle that I wish to make an unnoticeable and undetectable repair right underneath the vehicle inside the wheel arch, which once repaired I want to blend in as close as possible with the surrounding factory applied stone chip texture.

The Turkish towel effect has far better results than applying stone chip with a Schutz applicator, as said I've used such a technique many times over the years with good results and texture, yet never used a wax or grease soaked rag/towel.

It's the link I provided in my last post, scroll down to photos O and P.

It states author: Brain Martin

I guess, he's the one you want and not the messenger.

Also, a towel soaked with paint thinners, it doesn't seem to work and can get very messy.
If towel kinda damp with thinners, makes little difference but is slightly better.

I wonder if he left out a vital word like "remover"
He probably used "Wax & Grease Remover" on the towel.
Brian would never use actual grease on something to be painted.

If you read the entire article you would see he already referenced "Wax and Grease remover" for tooling the seam sealer. He just simply left out "remover" the second time when talking about the towel by accident.
