My wife and I just bought a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Granite Crystal Metallic and had it in the garage. The wife had the rear hatch opened and I opened the garage door and the arm that connects to the door to move it dragged right across the hatch /facepalm!!!

I am wondering if you guys recommend any of those touchup kits that might do a decent job.

It is a deep scratch and just touching it up with paint probably wouldn't fill it.

Anyway to maybe use a filler and then touch up the scratch and then some polishing.

This is the wife's new vehicle and she is NOT happy with me

Having the hatch repainted is definitely not in the finances right now. Is it possible an auto body shop would do a decent job filling and touching up the scratch?

Thanks for any help,
Chris

Any time you fill a scratch, it will ghost line with temperature changes.
It needs to be sanded and feathered out, repainted to do it right.
The other way that is "do it yourself" and will still show is to
keep filling with paint till it's high enough to sand and buff.
But anything like that will still show differently.
It's a matter of what you can live with.

(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding)
