The car is primed. I have the doors off the car. I want to edge the doors, hinges, etc and paint the car jambs with a base coat clear coat (although still undecided about using ss or bc-cc). Does it matter where I over spray on the surface of the door and car body? When the car is all back together and ready for final complete bc-cc paint can the over spray just be sanded and then final paint? Make sense?

I am by no means a knowledgeable commenter, but I did a lot of searching prior to doing my jambs and I decided to tape off all the panels adjacent to the jams. Bottom line for me was that I didn't want to make myself a bunch of additional sanding. So I spent the time and materials to tape it off. I am glad I did now, it made the final sanding on the exterior panels MUCH easier.

As the angry wombat says - tape them off. You don't want a bunch of build up at the edges, it'll just be more to sand off and risk creating new low spots.
