It' been about 10 days since I sprayed 3 coats PPG Deltron base and 2 coats of PPG 2002 high solids clear. Wet sanded the heck out of it, 1500, 2000 wet. Then 3000 3M trizat. Did this twice trying to get the urethane wave out. Mostly looks good but in my book it could always be better, wanting to get it super flat on the sides. My questions is when I shoot 2-3 more coats of clear on, will this melt into the older clear so when I cut and buff and potentially go through the new to old clear, it won't be noticeable. Or show like a tree ring. I normally shoot single stage concepts and loathe BC/CC, but due to the color I had to go that route.

Thanks,
TJ

I should add that my main concern is the sides. Could I just shoot them and blend in with a aerosol spray like PPG blending agent. But then I guess I have to be concerned about a halo later on???

If you've gone up to 3000 grit are you going to go back over everything with 400 to 600 before you spray again?

Probably gonna go 1000 grit. Now I have another issue. Only got 2.5-3 sprayable quarts at best. Quarters are my biggest issue. So if I scuff and shoot the quarters and roof will there be any noticeable difference between them and the doors as far as depth and shine?

1000 grit will not get rid of urethane wave.
Wet sand your larger panels with 600 using a block to remove all orange peel and get it flat. Dull edges and body lines with scotchbrite.
Shoot your next coat or two of clear using a slow activator and reducer and it should flow out nicely.

Will try the 600. Hopefully I wont go through the clear into base. Thanks for the tip!

I suggest you do about 1 sq. ft. at a time. Use a little dish soap in your bucket for wet sanding and keep a spray bottle of water handy to rinse with. I use a rubber squeegee and after sanding a bit, I spray to rinse and then squeegee dry to check progress.
Notice in this pic the darker spots which are low and haven't been sanded yet.

Thanks RT. It looks great outside but in my booth under the lights... I'm shooting PPG 2002 high solids clear. I just about sanded the original coats off, or least I think I have. So I'll shoot 2-3 more coats.
