I'm buying a newer jeep and I want to make it look like an old army jeep. I have a pic of what I want it to look like but the jeep in the pic actually sat outside and rusted to years. I've never rusted a car before so I dont know if its best to actually rust it to get this look or if I should paint on the rust? If I paint on the rust what's the best way? I've seen the kits but it looks like those are for when you want to do a whole car.

If your car were a 1/32d scale model, I could tell you exactly how to make it look rusted and weathered. :D

You paint it to get the "patina" look. I'm not a fan of the look myself,
but on certain vehicles it might be OK.

Basically you paint the rust on with browns, blacks, oxide red, and the
original color. Paint the layers of different colors and sand through the
top layers to get the weathered look. A matte clearcoat goes on top
to finish it.

This is different from a military camo paint scheme. Not sure which
one you mean...?
