The car was at this ?sanding? (I suppose) stage when I got the car..clear coat layer is off and so basically bare paint and primer layer/minute surface rust visible in few spots as you can see.
My question is (well a few questions)
Lets say I wanted to buy the primer and let someone spray it.......from what you see, how much primer would I need to get?
And what are some recommendations of type of primer to use from this stage.
What does it look like needs to be done from this point?
(It won't be going down to bare metal...and the color when it gets painted will be silver)

photos - "sorry requested page does not exist".

'81 Monte Carlo figure a gallon of sprayable material to get a couple of good coats of primer on the car.

If not doing any repairs the car should be buzzed with a D/A p220 grit to clean it up and provide good "tooth" for the primer. What happens next depends on the quality you are going for. Epoxy primer provides great adhesion but doesn't give much film build and does not sand as easily as a 2K primer - but you could coat it with Epoxy primer and go right to color. Or, if you are interested in getting the panels as flat as possible, shoot a 2K DTM primer and guide coat/block sand (iteratively) until the panels are 'perfect' - then go to color. Note if you do this you may end up needing more than one gallon of sprayable primer, since you'll be sanding and might need to re-shoot primer as part of the prep.
