I have a can of each. What's the difference?

Depends on product; may be some chemical differences between the two and meant for different purposes -- but the terms catalyst, activator, hardener -- in chemistry terms all mean "something that speeds up a chemical reaction". This is what lights the fuse on the curing process in our 2K (two component) coatings.
If you have a product that calls for a catalyst and a different product from the same company that says you need to use their activator -- don't be tempted to substitute one for the other. They both may do the same job but depend on interaction with the other component of the system to do it correctly. |
