I am getting close to being able to put the front sheet metal back on my car (65 studebaker lark). My question is I need to attach the inner fenders to the fenders. They were spot welded to the old fenders. I have nos inner and outer fenders. I really don't want to weld them together. my two thought were to either use a panel adhesive or screws. I like the idea of the adhesive but don't know if its a good idea since I assume it would be permanent once the adhesive dries. Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated . Thanks

Heating the seam with the adhesive on it to 350 degrees will release the bond.

I've seen hood bracing attached with adhesive, and it's usually applied in
about a 3" strip with about 6-8" between the strips. That's how I would
use it in your application.

I have a 62 Hawk Fender Im working on it had been worked on previously by some else but the inner fender was welded on with what looks like Silicon bronze ?

was planning to put it back together the same way I took it apart although now I would like to know whats the correct way.

Maybe some day the owner of the car will buy some parts for it and I can finish it.

There are several different brands of panel bond adhesive, but they all should have directions on the label.

Do you have pictures of your inners and fenders including the mating flanges? Can you give your reasoning why you don't want to weld the parts back together?Panel bond adhesive has it's place but not sure it would be a good idea here.It could be a little tricky getting it to stay in the right place and your clamping could be an issue, need pics to be sure.

I am not a welder. I have done my floors over (mig welded them) but am not sure that I want to weld visible welds. Thanks for the comments.
